Absolutely fascinating, I don't think I knew any of this before. It's also reminded me to finally order a copy of Guilty Pigs. I'm planning on giving it to my husband for Christmas, but I may have to borrow it afterwards...

I'll let you know! I'll have to wait until after Christmas though, I'd never live with myself if I read someone's present before them.

Of course not! Tell me what he thinks of it too!

Worth the wait. I wonder if zebras could be selectively bred for chill mood and, like with Arctic foxes, docility would be accompanied by physical changes (e.g. loss of stripes) that would wreck the whole process.

Actually we discussed the potential domestication of silver foxes in the book too - me being me, I went down the rabbit hole as to how this was achieved and various controversies (were the arctic foxes partially pre domesticated by Canadian fur trappers before the Russians did it?). I also think of those studies when I look at my dog - floppy ears, waggy tail, friendly etc... essence of a domestic dog...

...then...how? Surely the paired zebra see the one along side it as a rival?

So I am wondering if one is just SLIGHTLY in front of the other? I am still a bit bamboozled...
