The Silver Crown is one of my favourite books of all time. And let's not forget the name of the key villain!
I never understood the Alan Garner books properly when I read them I feel. I want to reread them as I did reread A Wrinkle in Time recently and found it curiously prophetic of some of our current circumstances and issues with tech. Alan Garner still writes this kind of stuff, for adults too, very interesting chap.
I thought Watership Down was very sad and cruel too and then I read another of Richard Adams' books not that much later 'The Girl on the Swing' and that was eye opening in a whole different way!
I can't though think of anything you've missed though The Borrowers is a pretty weird concept too.
OH THE BORROWERS. That is really odd, now I think about it as an adult.
You know, I lived in Manchester at a point when Alan Garner taught English to my best friend’s younger brother. I wish I had had a fan girl moment. I really do. Instead I just half-fainted when my friend’s bro told me.
Day of the Triffids
OMG Yes. Anything by John Wyndham, actually.

Right in the heart, this got me. Bridge to Terabithia.
Our generation had some truly great, and real, novels.
